Domain knowledge is mostly knowing which constraints are real

Anyone can learn a business in a fortnight. What takes years is knowing which of the rules a client describes are genuinely immovable and which are just habit.

Sector work spans

Where we work

Twelve sectors, and what we know about each

Every entry below reflects real delivery, not a capability we would like to claim.

Retail & Commerce

Catalogue systems, checkout rebuilds and store operations tooling for brands selling direct at volume.

We work with retail teams on the whole span — from the merchandising surface buyers use every morning to the checkout the customer sees once. Peak-season readiness is planned in July, not in November.

Hospitality & Travel

Booking engines, property systems and guest apps where availability logic has to be exactly right.

Travel software lives or dies on inventory accuracy. We build against the awkward realities — overbooking rules, cancellation windows, currency drift and channel manager sync.

Property & PropTech

Listing portals, agent workflows and valuation tooling with search that behaves under real filters.

Property search is a hard search problem wearing a simple interface. We spend our time on geospatial indexing, saved-search alerts and the CRM integrations agents actually open.

Health & Clinical

Patient-facing products and clinical tooling built under HIPAA and GDPR from the first commit.

Compliance is an architecture decision, not a checklist at the end. Audit logging, consent, data residency and access control get designed in the first week of a health engagement.

Education & Learning

Learning platforms, assessment engines and institutional portals that survive term-start traffic.

Education traffic is spiky and unforgiving — everybody logs in at the same hour. We build for that curve and for the accessibility standards the sector is rightly held to.

Finance & FinTech

Payment flows, lending journeys and reconciliation tooling with an audit trail that stands up.

Financial products are mostly state machines with legal consequences. We model them explicitly, test the unhappy paths hardest, and instrument everything that touches money.

SaaS & Technology

Multi-tenant platforms, billing, onboarding and the admin tooling founders keep deferring.

We join SaaS teams at the awkward stage — the prototype works, the architecture does not scale, and enterprise buyers are asking about SSO. That is our favourite problem.

Fashion & Lifestyle

Editorial commerce, lookbook systems and size logic for brands where the story sells the product.

Fashion clients need content and commerce in the same breath. We build storefronts where an editor can ship a campaign at 9am without asking an engineer for anything.

Media & Entertainment

Streaming front ends, content platforms and subscriber experiences built for large libraries.

Large catalogues break naive front ends. We focus on browse performance, recommendation surfaces and the entitlement logic that decides who sees what.

Fitness & Wellness

Membership platforms, class booking and habit-forming apps with offline behaviour that works.

Wellness apps get used in basements with no signal. Offline-first sync and honest streak logic matter more here than almost anywhere else.

Automotive & Mobility

Inventory marketplaces, dealer portals and configurators with pricing rules that never disagree.

Vehicle commerce is configuration at heart — options, dependencies, regional availability. We build the rules engine once and let every surface read from it.

Professional Services

Lead systems, client portals and internal automation for firms billing on people's time.

For firms, the highest-return software is usually internal. We start with the process everyone complains about and take it off the spreadsheet it currently lives on.

Your sector is not on the list?

Then say so plainly and we will tell you honestly whether the learning curve is worth your budget. Twice last year the answer was no.

What clients say when we are not in the room

These are lightly edited excerpts from reference calls, published with permission.

They rebuilt our checkout in nine weeks and then spent another two arguing us out of three features we did not need. Conversion went up either way. That mix of speed and pushback is rare.

The framing week was worth the whole fee on its own. We came in wanting a replatform and left with a plan to fix search instead, which turned out to be the actual problem.
TFTomás FerreiraHead of Product · Meridiana Living
We had two agencies before this. Clownmind is the first one whose handover documentation our own engineers could read on a Friday and deploy from on a Monday.
DWDana WhitcombeCTO · Northlake Health
Their SEO people write code. I did not realise how much time we had wasted on audits nobody could implement until findings started shipping in the same sprint.

Peak week went by without a single incident. They rehearsed the load twice in September and found a caching bug that would have cost us the whole of Black Friday.
ANAyesha NkemdirimDirector of Ecommerce · Verdant Supply Co.
They told us not to build the AI feature we asked for and explained why in writing. Six months later that was clearly the right call. I trust the next recommendation more because of it.

Thirty minutes with a principal engineer. No deck, no discovery call disguised as a sales call.
